A full year into the COVID-19 pandemic and it is safe to say that everyone is just plain tired. From worrying about our own health and that of our loved ones, to the ongoing lockdowns and social restrictions, people are fatigued and not in their best mental states—to put it mildly. Add to that the fact that winter has coincided with one of the strictest lockdown periods and it is no wonder that people across Britain are ready for spring and the sense of renewal it offers!

We at West Stow Pods have been feeling jaded too, but as the first signs of spring manifest, we are feeling hopeful and optimistic. Most of all, we are looking forward to re-welcoming guests to our little slice of paradise in Suffolk. Our glamping site has sadly been quiet as of late and we are eager to reopen this April.

Following government directives (which are, admittedly, subject to change), we are planning to open our doors on April 12, 2021. Our guests have a variety of accommodations to choose from—including our MegaPods, Lodges, and the magical Pod Hollow—all of which are situated at a safe distance from one another and are fully sanitized in between bookings. You can find our full COVID-19 response here.

West Stow Pods, the perfect place to reconnect with Nature

Over the past year, the limited access to nature has taken its toll on people’s mental and physical health. Studies—including those conducted by Harvard and the Children & Nature Network—have found that exposure to natural environments and greenery has significant mental benefits, which can ultimately improve how we cope with the pandemic.

Specific health benefits of immersing oneself in nature include lower blood pressure and lower levels of cortisol, the hormone associated with stress. Even just seeing nature can help: as Dr. Strauss, from the Harvard-affiliated Cambridge Health Alliance, said: “Having something pleasant to focus on like trees and greenery helps distract your mind from negative thinking, so your thoughts become less filled with worry.”

All that to say, simply going for a walk in nature can be therapeutic—for mind, body, and soul. With restrictions gradually lifting and more outdoor activities allowed, Britons are understandably eager to get back into nature and give their mental and physical health a boost after such a long confinement.

At West Stow Pods, we offer the confluence of nature and comfort, with well-fitted (and safely distanced) accommodations, just steps away from beautiful walking and cycling trails. We are ideally situated in the heart of Suffolk, with rivers, woodlands, and green countryside at our doorstep. Discover our local walks here.

A big thank you to our guests

We’d also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of our guests (returning and new) who have supported us through this trying year. Thank you for making the months we were open so delightful and thank you for staying engaged with us during the lockdown periods.

We would be lying if we said it hasn’t been a hard year, but we are happy and grateful to be coming out of it healthy and in good spirits. Most of all, we’re just so excited to greet you and help you discover our beautiful corner of Suffolk in East Anglia. Get in touch now to book your nature getaway with us!
