Larkwood Lakes Eco Centre – West Stow

When you enter Larkwood Eco Centre most people give a little gasp of surprise when they first see the lake, it is truly beautiful. There are relatively few fish in this lake, but pop your head below the surface and you will see thousands of diving beetles, dragonfly larvae, damsel fly nymphs, fresh water mussels and so many other organisms. A wonder for pond dippers and naturalists. Look above the surface and marvel at the adult dragonflies and damselflies swarming around the lake.

Nutty Mermaids run open water swimming sessions regularly on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings.

Little Ouse – Santon Downham

In the small village of Santon Downham—located in the expansive Thetford Forest—runs a quaint, picturesque river, the Little Ouse. On a pleasant day, the forest-surrounded river is the perfect place for a cooling dip. The wild swimming spot, which is just a 20-minute drive from our glamping site, is accessible via a footbridge at St Helen’s Picnic Site just outside of Santon Downham. More info can be found here.
